Sometimes we feature some very special games in our kickstarter focus feature. Rain World is one of those games. Rain World is a survival platformer with beautiful graphics, a perfectly eerie atmosphere, a glitchy chiptune soundtrack and also a lonely slugcat.
Rain World is a videogame being independently developed by Joar Jakobsson, a Swedish programmer and graphic design artist based out of Stockholm, and James Primate, an American composer and sound designer based out of Boston. Rain World’s kickstarter started yesterday and it certainly deserves to be funded and for the game to reach its full potential.
Rain World is a survival platformer set in an abandoned industrial environment ravaged by a shattered ecosystem.
Bone-crushingly intense rains pound the surface, making life as we know it almost impossible. The creatures in this world hibernate most of the time, but in the few brief dry periods they go out in search of food.
You are a nomadic slugcat, both predator and prey in this land.
You must hunt enough food to survive another cycle of hibernation.
Other — bigger — creatures have the same plan.
There’s certainly a lot to look forward to with Rain World and I highly recommend you check out Rain World’s kickstarter.
